Packing Tips for Moving House (From a Bournemouth Removals Crew)
The packing tricks our crew use on every house move — boxes, fragiles, labels and the order to pack rooms.
Start 3 weeks out
Pack rarely-used rooms first — loft, garage, spare room. Leave kitchen and bedroom until the last 48 hours.
Box rules
- Books and heavy items in small boxes (max 15kg) — your back will thank you.
- Linens and clothes in large boxes — light, fills volume.
- Plates vertical, like records, with paper between. They don't break.
Label by room AND priority
Write room + "open first / week 1 / storage" on the top AND one side of every box. You'll find what you need without unstacking.
Fragile kit
Bubble wrap is fine; old towels and tea-towels are free and work just as well. Mark fragile boxes top-side-only.
Don't pack
- Cleaning products and bleach (spillage risk)
- Documents and valuables — keep with you
- The kettle and a few mugs — last to pack, first to unpack
For full-service packing on the day, we offer it as an add-on to all house removals in Bournemouth.
