About BH23 — coverage and access
BH23 is the largest postcode we cover by area and it reaches well beyond the town it is named after. Christchurch and the Priory sit at its centre, Highcliffe and its castle are five miles east along the coast, and Mudeford, Stanpit, Burton and Bransgore fill in around them — the last of those closer to the New Forest than to anything urban. Both town pages carry the street-level detail. This page is the coverage overview, which matters more here than in most postcodes because BH23 addresses can be twenty minutes apart.
Four and a half miles from base to central Christchurch, inside the free-mileage radius, so no travel charge — and that holds across the postcode. The practical issue in BH23 is the bypass and the bridges. The A35 through Christchurch is the only quick way east and it queues hard at both peaks, while the older town-centre route over the river is narrow and slow. Getting to Highcliffe or Bransgore at the wrong hour can add half an hour that a job to the same distance elsewhere would not.
